The valley contains over a dozen rock-cut churches with colorful, well-preserved frescoes dating from the 8th to 12th centuries — including the domed Karabas Kilise with its striking blue background frescoes. Local women sell handmade dolls along the path, and small restaurants serve gozleme and ayran in shaded courtyards. The valley requires a modest entry fee that helps maintain the churches and path.
